This course will use the popular TV series ‘The Tudors’ as the basis for an investigation into the real history of the family portrayed in it. The course will refer to various other films and TV series that have focused on the Tudors. The course will start with Henry VII and deal with each of his descendants who became kings and queens of England namely Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary and Elizabeth. The course will examine the impact the Tudors had on English and Irish social, cultural and religious history.

Tutor Details
Gillian Kenny is a graduate of both University College Dublin, where she received her BA and MA, and of Trinity College Dublin where she was conferred with a PhD in 2005. She is currently engaged in research relating to Irishwomen's lives before the twelfth century.
