ASSET - Adding Support Skills for European Teachers
EU Socrates
Grundtvig 1 Project
The ASSET project was a three year Grundtvig 1 European Co-operation Project which finished in September 2006.
The UCD Adult Education Centre was a partner in this project, which involved a range of adult education providers from eight countries, including universities, folk schools and non-governmental organisations (see below for list).
The project set out to develop and online tool-kit of resource materials for adult education teachers and practitioners. Following an audit of existing training opportunities for adult education practitioners in each country, the partners began writing and developing materials around three key topics - Learner Centred Methodologies, Learner Support and Valuing Diversity.
Teachers and staff in each of the partner organisations evaluated the initial drafts of the materials and made suggestions for improving both content and format. In addition, a number of teachers attended a pilot programme in Prague in June 2005 where the materials were reviewed, discussed and reworked. Feedback from these evaluation exercises was essential in advising the project team and producing the final toolkit.
The materials are now available on the ASSET project website.
