If you are buying a house it's “Location, Location, Location". If you are going back to University It's “Access, Access, Access"
Just thought you might like to know that I graduated ... on Tuesday. Many Thanks to the Access Course and getting me started.
The year has been very important for me as I had almost given up on further education. This course has prepared me very well for University and I am looking forward to the next three years and to fulfilling a lifelong dream.
I know I would not have coped without the help of the Access to Science course and especially the Study Skills class. I'm so delighted I found that course and completed it before the degree course.
I just have to say that I got my ... FIRST choice!!!! I was so overwhelmed and happy!! My mother went all out and bought champagne (actually it was pink cava)!! Thank you so much for everything! Nobody would have looked at my application if you hadn't given me a chance with the Access course!
1) I just wanted to double check that it's not a mistake, did I get really 79%? (before I call eveybody I know)
2) Am actually sobbing. Sobbing! Because regardless of the results, this is the best thing that has happened to me since I was 16! I will never be able to thank you enough for letting me do this course! There is really NOTHING I could do or say that could express my gratitude.
I feel we're in safe hands, also that there may be more to this than I first thought....But I feel good about it, not too overwhelmed. It's all very positive, I look forward to it unfolding over the next few weeks and months. I just reread that and it sounds gushing! OK I better do some grocery shopping and then a bit of Home Rule.
I'm an old-age pensioner now who never had much formal education, and your History course was my first contact with anything vaguely academic since the 1950's. I am so glad I did it: it opened windows in my mind, and let the light into rooms long boarded up. I now need to get in there with my featherduster, and furnish them with something durable; and I feel confident that I can do so.
I came to know Death of a Salesman on the Access course. Willy Loman's son Biff discovered that his father had dreamt all the wrong dreams. At this stage in my life, I believe I can avoid the Willy Loman legacy and after thirty years in the business world I can bring together all my skills and interests and combine these with a third level qualification so that I can fulfil a new dream.
The weeks of intensive study were not just ten weeks of academic learning but ten weeks of learning who I was and what I was made of. The guidance given by the tutors facilitated a personal growth which I would never have thought possible. It enabled me to see my strengths and weaknesses and imparted a confidence to use those strengths in my life to get back into education after being away from it for so long. It has provided me with a great platform to go on and do the degree.
I found the course a fantastic learning experience. It was positive, involving and definitely the best way to get back into education after being away from it for so long. It has provided me with a great platform to go on and do the degree. The lecturers were excellent and the support from the Adult Ed Centre was a great support
The Access to Arts and Human Sciences programme was my foundation and apprenticeship as a mature student, to the academic requirements needed to succeed in UCD. It was an experience of academic confidence building at the right tempo. As the course progressed, so did my ability, study skills and personal development. Adult Education gave me the support and opportunity to progress to my chosen degree and meet some great new friends.
