Peer Mentoring
UCD Links is a peer support programme for first year students which involves linking them up with a group of other first year students and a peer mentor. It is primarily aimed at speeding up the rate at which first year students make friends and assisting students to learn more about the University. It is also aimed at facilitating students in solving problems and in accessing the University’s professional support services when necessary. It will be running for all UCD undergraduate programmes for 2011/2012.
For all programmes except the BA, peer mentoring is coordinated by the Student Advisers. The BA peer mentoring programme will be coordinated by a Student Engagement Officer. The success of all the peer mentoring programmes is dependent on the commitment and calibre of the mentors involved. Peer mentors play a crucial role in ensuring new students feel at home in UCD. The 2011/2012 programmes are up and running already but if you think you’d like to get involved in 2012, come and talk with your Student Adviser.
