50th edition of Agricultural Science Society publication Ceres now available

AgSoc, the Agricultural Science Society, are delighted to announce the publication of the fiftieth edition of Ceres, the annual publication of the Agricultural Science Society.

The publication of Ceres 2007, which includes submissions from; UCD President, Professor Hugh Brady; Head of School, Agriculture, Food Science and Veterinary Medicine, Professor Maurice Boland and Dean of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Jim Phelan was led by final year BAgrSc students Mr. Eoghan Finneran and Mr. Peter Whelan (editors) and included the input from all members of a very active 2007 Agricultural Science Committee.   Eoghan remarked,  “Without the help of all members of this years committee, the publication which includes interviews with BAgrSc graduate, Ms Mairead Mc Guinness (MEP), staff members such as Dr Myles Rath and the first editor of Ceres in 1957, Dr Peader Tiernan, we would not have been able to provide an accurate representation of the tales and experiences of BAgrSc students past and present ”.

Final year BAgrSc students Mr. Eoghan Finneran, BAgrSc Food and Agribusiness Management and Mr. Peter Whelan, BAgrSc Animal and Crop Production (editors) outside the AgSoc office in the Agriculture and Food Science Centre.

Peter was delighted to play a pivotal role in the fiftieth edition, which in addition to looking back through the last 50 years also provides details of the activities and adventures organised by AgSoc during the 06/7 academic session.  “The fiftieth edition has something for everyone and a bonus CD provides photos and footage from some of the events and activities organised by AgSoc during the year – not for the faint hearted”.
