UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science Research Seminar Series

Consisting of ten research seminars during lunchtime and presented by internal and external expert presenters, the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science Research Seminar Series will take place monthly between September 2012 and June 2013 dissecting a diverse range of exciting and relevant topics suggested by staff members from each of the four research themes within the School (Agribusiness and Rural Development; Animal and Crop Science; Environment and Sustainable Resource Management and Food Science and Nutrition).

Seminar Timetable: 

The first Seminar entitled “Personalised Nutrition” by Professor Mike Gibney will commence on Wednesday, 12 September 2012 at 1pm in FS01, UCD Agriculture and Food Science Centre.

Information regarding attendance:

Attendance at the seminar series is free and pre booking is not required.   Audience: All Welcome

Each Seminar will take place in FS01, Agriculture & food Science Centre from 1 to 2pm.  An additional one hour seminar forum between 2-3pm will take place in Room G24 for research students registering to the module.  Additional information on the seminar series is available by contacting Catherine Byrne, UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. Register to the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science Research Seminar Series (Module: FDSC 40490)

The School of Agriculture and Food Science Research Seminar Series module aims to advance each student’s ability to assess critically scientific research, results and interpretations, and to enhance each student’s ability to summarise latest research findings.   To register to the module, please complete the module registration form and return to Karen Holland, UCD Agriculture & Food Science Programme Office.

The module registration form should be submitted no later than Friday 7th September.

Research students who register to the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science Research Seminar Series module (FDSC 40490) and fulfil the requirements set out below will receive 2.5 ECTS credits:

1)     Attend a minimum of seven research seminars

2)     Participate in a minimum of seven one hour post seminar forums,  which will take place following each presentation

3)     Submit a minimum of seven short abstracts following each seminar forum

Students unable to complete the credit requirements of the module may register to the module as Audit Only. Auditing a module means there will be no assessment component or credits awarded on completion, the module will however appear on the student’s final academic transcript.
