Effective CV's and Cover letters

Wednesday 11 October – 1.00-2.00pm – Room F104 Newman Building

This session will introduce students to the graduate application process.  It will outline how to present your skills, knowledge and experience to best effect in your CV and cover letter and avoid common pitfalls and mistakes when applying for jobs. This session is aimed at second stage, third stage and MA students but is open to first stage students too.

 

Career Options and Skills for Arts and Humanities & Social Sciences Students

Wednesday 18 October – 1.00-2.00pm – Room F104 Newman Building

This session will explore the different career options, opportunities, skills and where Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences graduates go after graduating. It will introduce you to understanding your profile and how to direct that knowledge towards considering your career options. This session is aimed at second stage, third stage and MA students but is open to first stage students too.

 

Interview Skills and Graduate Recruitment Process

Thursday 26 October – 1.00-2.00pm – Room G109 Newman Building

This session will introduce students to the graduate recruitment process and will outline what you should do before, during and after your interview to maximise your chance of success and help you to become more confident in your own capabilities. This session is aimed at second stage, third stage and MA students but is open to first stage students too.

 

Job Searching Tips and Networking Skills

Wednesday 1 November – 1.00-2.00pm – Room F104 Newman Building

This session, will introduce you to what employers are looking for in new recruits, networking and working the room, how to leverage social media and making a positive and lasting impression. It will also cover relevant job searching tips and sites for hidden and open opportunities. This session is aimed at second stage, third stage and MA students but is open to first stage students too.

 

Securing Internships and Work Experience

Wednesday 8 November – 1.00-2.00pm – Room F104 Newman Building

This session will introduce Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences students to the various internship opportunities, benefits and application process. It will outline how to present your skills and avoid common pitfalls and mistakes when applying for internships. This session is aimed at second stage students but is open to first stage, third stage and MA students too.
