BA FULL-TIME PROGRAMME - CURRENT STUDENTS
BA STAGE 1 STRUCTURE
In your first year (called Stage 1) you need to ensure that you complete 60 credits, usually 6 modules per semester. There are many ways in which you can combine subjects and elective modules to make up that total. The maximum number of credits that you can complete in any subject is usually 20 (generally 4 modules) so you may take three subjects at Stage 1. Where possible, you should take 20 credits in at least ONE subject*. Stage 1 BA students are advised to take a maximum of four subjects.
The minimum number of credits that you can take in a subject that you intend taking at Stage 2 is usually 10 (generally 2 modules). Most schools recommend that you take more than 10 credits in a subject that you intend to pursue to degree level. However, individual subjects have their own regulations about progression to Stage 2 and some require that you take more than 10 credits at Stage 1 to allow you to continue that with that subject at Stage 2. Others require that you take a particular combination of modules to make up 10 credits if you want to continue with the subject.
Subject Progression Regulations for students entering Stage 2 of a BA Programme
You must have taken at least 10 credits in Stage 1 in the subjects you intend to take to degree level.
More specific queries in relation to subjects should be directed to the relevant Schools.
