The UCD Applied Language Centre (ALC) offers a wide range of programmes in the following areas:

    • English as a foreign and second language
    • English for Academic Purposes pathways for international students
    • Global languages modules for undergraduate and graduate students
    • Graduate programes in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Langauges (TESOL)

The ALC is Ireland's largest and most experienced Examination Centre for IELTS and Cambridge English examinations with test dates offered regularly each month. The cenre has more than 3,000 students taking courses and 5,000 examination candidates each year.

Administrative Position

Interested in improving your administration skills by joining our busy multicultural organisation?

We are currently seeking students and graduates to work part-time (between 10 and 20 hrs/week, occasional weekend hours).

Applicants should demonstrate flexibility, reliability and excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. Previous administration experience, knowledge of computer/web systems and digital technology is desired. Training will be provided.

English Teaching Position at Chang’an University, Xi’an, China

Chang’an University, in Xi’an, China, is recruiting teachers to teach English to students on the UCD-Chang’an Dual Degree Programme.

Teachers will teach General English, IELTS, and Academic English with an emphasis on speaking and writing skills. Typically 10 hours per week.


- Bachelor’s Degree

- Certified EFL qualification (CELTA / Trinity TESOL)

- 2 years teaching experience

 Salary and Benefits:

- 10,000 RMB per month

Japanese - Part time language teacher

The Applied Language Centre offers language electives to non-specialist language learners as part of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at UCD.

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals with expertise in the delivery of language teaching, who can commit to 2-6 hours per week throughout both semesters of the Academic year. Part-time teachers are paid monthly at agreed hourly rates.

Those interested must have a relevant undergraduate degree.  Desirable criteria: prior experience of teaching in the target language in a professional setting and a teaching qualification.
