Travelling to/from Belfield Campus and Surrounding Area

By Bus - Dublin Bus

The numbers 39a, 145, 46A/B/D are the most frequent buses serving UCD. The 39a stops within 3 minutes of the Daedalus Building and the 46A stops at the entrance to the campus (about 5 minutes to Daedalus). The 3, 11B, and the 17 all provide less frequent direct bus services to the Belfield campus. For exact routes and timetable information please visit Dublin Bus and search for "University College Dublin".

By Car
UCD has several entrances and several car parks. Traffic calming measures are in operation at certain times. The main entrance is off the N11 (Stillorgan Road). You are advised to consult UCD’s Traffic Office for information on how to get to UCD from all major routes, traffic restrictions on campus, and parking facilities.

By Taxi
Dublin has a good taxi service and there is a plentiful supply of taxis operating in the city. It is possible to hail a taxi from the street, but convenient taxi ranks are located opposite the Gresham Hotel on O’Connell Street and opposite Trinity College on College Green. Remember to check the fare with the taxi driver before the journey.

By Bus - Bus Eireann
Bus Éireann provides a nationwide bus service throughout Ireland with most major areas having a regular link to Dublin. The majority of Dublin services terminate in Busáras (Central Bus Station) from where it is a short walk to O'Connell Street for connecting buses to UCD. For further information please visit the Bus Éireann website.

By Dart
The Dubin Area Rapid Transport (DART) local rail system serves a station close to UCD at Sydney Parade. You can then take the number 3 bus to UCD. It is roughly 20 minutes by foot.

By Train
Dublin is served by two main railway stations: Connolly and Heuston. From Connolly Station it is a short walk to O'Connell Street from where the numbers 3, 10, 11B and 46A/B/D can be boarded. There are frequent connecting services from Heuston to the city centre. For further information please visit the Irish Rail website.

Travelling to UCD and Surrounding Area from Dublin Airport

Dublin is served by one airport - Dublin International Airport, on the city's North Side.

To get to the Applied Language Centre and student residences we suggest:

    • Aircoach (blue bus) operates a service to Leopardstown/Sandyford/Stillorgan which passes UCD to and from Dublin Airport. Aircoach also operates services to the city centre and Ballsbridge/Donnybrook, from where you can take a local bus or a taxi. Further details are available at their website.

  • The Airlink 746 is a public service operated by Dublin Bus and runs on an hourly basis. It takes you from the airport via the centre to Dun Laoghaire. This bus goes past UCD/Montrose Hotel but only once per hour, so be sure to check the timetable. The Airlink 747 bus goes to Busáras (the central bus station in the city centre). The Airlink 748 goes via the centre to Heuston Train Station.
