Sample Project: CercleS
From 2000, the headquarters of the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education (CercleS) was based in the ALC. CercleS is a confederation of independent national associations with a membership drawn from 26 countries across Europe. It represents the interests of some 300 language centres, departments, schools and institutes in higher education whose main responsibility is the teaching of language.
The ALC had overall executive responsibility for CercleS including management of the secretariat and finances, two international conferences, publication of conference proceedings and a bulletin. The ALC also managed or co-managed the following projects on behalf of CercleS:European Language Portfolio, LATE and Lingu@net. The ALC’s role in managing CercleS continued until the end of 2004.
