Characters in Conversation was followed by a student performance of James Joyce's Two Gallants:
This performance of Two Gallants marked the culmination of a creative collaboration between UCD Ad Astra Scholarships recipients from Drama and Music, members of the UCD Drama Society and Ad Astra Director in Residence Kellie Hughes and is adapted from the short story of the same name which forms part of Joyce’s celebrated novel Dubliners.  Only 24 when Joyce completed it, Two Gallants offers a glimpse of the artistic heights which Joyce would eventually scale and features the characters Corley and Lenehan who later people the world of Ulysses.  It seems fitting therefore that the young and talented students of UCD performed this work created by one of UCD’s most treasured alumni in Astra Hall and on Bloomsday.
