UCD Business Alumni have just launched a new video thought leadership series entitled “The Leaders’ Insights Series” in association with Matheson Ormsby Prentice. Distributed monthly to business graduates via Business eConnections and the UCD Business Alumni website, the series will include thought leadership video interviews with prominent business leaders, UCD Business School academics and notable business alumni, sharing their views and business insights on a range of topical management and business issues. The UCD Ad Astra Academy, which is generously supported by the UCD Foundation, was set up in 2011 to support and nurture the most talented UCD students. Scholars displaying potential to international standards in academic pursuits, performing arts or sport are encouraged and mentored to develop their talent further while undertaking their degree studies. more

The Australia 1984 Scholarships 2011 Award
At a recent celebration hosted by UCD President, Dr Hugh Brady, three of UCD’s elite rugby athletes , Kieron Moloney, Danny Kenny and David Lynch were presented with the ‘Australia 1984 Scholarships’.

The purpose of the Australia 1984 Scholarship Fund is to develop the potential of elite rugby players receiving full time third level education in UCD into professional rugby players who will be supported in turn by the development programme in UCD and in Leinster..

UCD Rugby Club Commissioned Portrait of British & Irish Lions
As part of the Centenary Season celebrations of the Rugby Club, a portrait of all the players who played for both Collidge and the Lions was commissioned. The artist is Peter Deighan, originally from Monaghan and now based in the UK. Peter has worked extensively for JP McManus and others in the golf and racing world and was also the artist who painted the first official portrait of John Major as British Prime Minister. A limited edition of 300 high quality copies (image size 20.0” X 16.7” printed using the Giclee method) are on sale. The cost is €250 + p.p. for framed and €200 + p.p. for print only. All proceeds from sales go to UCD Rugby Club.
