During the academic terms and in the lead up to exams, UCD Libraries are a hub of activity both for students and staff alike. The Library as a whole contains about a million print volumes, with substantial collections of around a million non-print formats, including 650,000 e-books. It is not surprising that one of the most sought after benefits to Alumni Membership is the UCD Readers card, as the extent of publications and quality of facilities in UCD Libraries make it a paragon of learning and exploration. Accommodation for readers consists of some 3,150 reading and study places, including single and group study and PBL rooms. Wireless internet is available throughout all of the UCD libraries. There are also wired network points provided, and a number of power outlets are available to about a third of study seats. A number of IT Services open computer labs are located within the libraries. Access to the majority of UCD Library sites is through automated access, in the form of a swipe card. Students and staff members use their ID cards to gain access. However alumni can obtain reader cards from UCD Alumni Relations and borrowers cards from UCD Library. UCD has five main library sites which include: |
