    Objectives of the Project
    1. To study the impact of Business Excellence on the performance of Irish business (mainly manufacturing).
    2. As part of the process to assist a group of six Irish companies in defining an improvement plan and implementing it over a two-year period.
    3. To generate case-study material for teaching and academic use.
    4. To disseminate the learning from the project on a broad scale to the wider Irish business community.
    5. To refine current approaches and methodologies within and outside the partner organisations to allow more effective use of the Business Excellence Models in the future.
    6. To create a network of companies who learn to benchmark using the Business Excellence Model and network with each other with a view to improving their performance.

    Project Process Activities
Implement the Business Excellence Model in six companies as follows:

    1. Start company involvement with "Kick Off" event
    2. The Diagnostic element starts in the companies, largely fronted by Excellence Ireland using the Business Excellence Model methodologies, which they have developed. AMT Ireland will also participate in this diagnostic, especially in relation to the manufacturing operations.
    3. Develop an integrated improvement plan with the company
    4. The Implementation Phase will involve both AMT Ireland and Excellence Ireland in facilitating as appropriate the various improvement activities, which arise from the improvement plan.
    5. The company carries out a facilitated self-assessment on conclusion of the project to review progress/improvements achieved throughout the project.
