Master of Social Science (Social Work)

Admission procedures, requirements and guidelines for 2013 - 2015
The MSocSc (Social Work) is a two-year full-time professional programme in social work. The programme contains academic and field work components. It is full-time and full attendance is required.
Students who do not complete the requirements of the MSoc Sc (Social Work) programme satisfactorily, or who fail to do so within the time limits set, may be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Social Work or the MSocSc (Applied Social Science)

- Transcript of your degree (s) – this is not necessary for UCD students/graduates
- Work reference (paid or voluntary work)
- Photocopy of your birth certificate or passport – this is not necessary for degrees UCD students/graduates

- application fee must be received. You should pay online if at all possible in order to ensure the fee is received by the deadline. If you are posting payment, you must allow sufficient time to ensure that it is received and marked as received on your application by UCD before the deadline.

- photocopy of your transcript (full transcript, showing all years of study) for all non UCD applicants.
- photocopy of your birth certificate or passport for all non UCD applicants
- work reference (from paid or voluntary work – must be a signed original on headed paper) - for all applicants
You must ensure that your name, applicant number and the course for which you are applying is clearly marked on all documents you post. We regret that emailed documents cannot be accepted.
All the above must be submitted on time for your application to be considered.
Interviews (2013 - 2015)
Candidates will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of academic results and relevant work experience (see admission requirements). Interviews will take place in UCD between approx 15th - 22nd February 2013 and applicants must be available to attend. Applicants should note that the interviewing period may be advanced / extended if unforeseen circumstances arise. We regret that due to the large volume of applications, it is not possible to interview all eligible applicants.
You should note that UCD reserves the right to check the information submitted on your Work Experience form with your employer. We may also request an academic reference.
