Belderrig, Mayo. February 2008
The Archaeological Society were proud to have organised a trip to the archaeologically rich area of Belderrig in Co.Mayo. During the weekend we took in the Ceidé Fields, Ballyglass Court Tombs, Ogham Stones, Rathlackan Court Tomb, Bronze Age Barrows, The current site of Mesolithic excavation and Bronze Age Settlement. It was an honour to have Prof. Seamus Caufield as our guide for the weekend and a special thank you to Conor McDermot and Dr Graeme Warren for their help, without which the trip could not take place. Finally a special thank you to all the people of Belderrig who make every visit a memorable experience with their welcoming and friendly response to 20 students for the weekend.
