20160615 Helen Lewis Fulbright

UCD School of Archaeology warmly congratulates our colleague Dr Helen Lewis on her award of a prestigious 2016-2017 Fulbright GSI Geosciences Scholarship

This award is to carry out research in the USA. There are two awards, sponsored by the Geological Survey of Ireland, which are providing funding for two scholars to undertake research in leading academic institutes in the USA. Dr Helen Lewis and Ms Saskia Ryan formally received their awards at a reception in the US Ambassador’s Residence in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. As a Fulbright GSI Geoscience Scholar, Dr Lewis will be based at the University of Washington, where she will conduct research into the place of Geoarchaeology in Cultural Resources Management, exploring cultures of practice and specifically the barriers that exist at state level to the application of international professional standards of best practice. We are delighted for Helen and wish her a highly successful and enjoyable research period in USA (The attached photo is from the Geological Survey of Ireland website, and shows from the left, Mr Koen Verbruggen (GSI), Dr Helen Lewis (UCD School of Archaeology), the Irish Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources Mr Seán Kyne, and Ms Saskia Ryan (TCD), and Dr Aoife Braiden (GSI) at the awards ceremony) (opens in a new window)https://www.gsi.ie/News/Fulbright+award+winners.htm
