2016 Excavations at Glendalough and Heritage Week Events

UCD School of Archaeology will be commencing our annual excavations at Glendalough, Co. Wicklow next week. The first two weeks from Monday 8th of August will be a community excavation with local volunteers working with UCD staff and student volunteers. The second two weeks will be our annual Field School for undergraduate students in the ARCH20100 module who are about to enter the second year of their studies. We are also delighted that once again this year that our students will be working with (opens in a new window)Historic Graves in continuing the community survey of Glendalough Graveyard from Monday 22nd-Friday 26th August.

In collaboration with the (opens in a new window)Glendalough Heritage Forum (GHF) for Heritage Week we are offering tours of our excavations from Monday 22nd–Saturday 27th August at 2:00pm-3:00pm, meeting at the Round Tower.
