Prehistoric stone quarries a social perspective

Arising out of the work on Lambay and other stone axe quarry sites in Ireland and Britain a project was developed to consider prehistoric stone quarrying from a social perspective. Analysing both the choice and working of lithic sources within a social framework. This together with the post-excavation analysis of the Lambay quarry site was the basis for the IRCHSS Government of Ireland Senior Research Fellowship (2004-5) and a research visit to quarry sites in Newfoundland, Canada (Faculty Enrichment Award (2005) Foreign Affairs, Canada).
