Aims and Objectives

To investigate and reconstruct past people’s perception and inhabitation of their landscapes, seascapes and wetlands environments.

To enable through research and policy development, the protection and management of Ireland’s landscape cultural heritage.

Abstract

UCD School of Archaeology is recognised as the leading centre for landscape and wetlands archaeological research. Its staff are also internationally recognised as leading practitioners in these subjects. The Research Group has also carried out research that provides models for the future management and protection of our landscape cultural heritage. UCD School of Archaeology has also promoted period-based landscape research programmes on the Mesolithic; Neolithic; Bronze Age; Medieval and Post-Medieval period, with a large number of key books and peer-reviewed papers.
