Introduction
UCD School of Archaeology’s ‘Ireland and the World’ research theme promotes national research projects of international significance that examine the character of Ireland’s archaeological and cultural heritage in its wider global context, as well as projects exploring the impact of Irish culture on the wider world, from the inter-regional links established along the Atlantic seaboard in the Neolithic to the Irish diaspora in the nineteenth century. UCD School of Archaeology has a long tradition of investigation of Ireland’s immensely rich archaeology and has sought to communicate this knowledge at an international level (e.g. WAC-6). Research projects led by the members of the Ireland and the World research theme have attracted funding from INSTAR, the Royal Irish Academy, Heritage Council, IRCHSS and other sources.
