CONTEXT 
Biographical History  

Born in Dublin 1927 to Kathy Barry, sister of Kevin Barry and Jim Moloney, Patrick was educated at Belvedere College and University College Dublin where he studied economics and history. Elected to the Students' Representative Council, 1947. Awarded an MA degree in economics, 1953. Employed by the Advertising Department, Irish Times, 1950–52. Employed by Mobiloil, London, 1953. Died in Dublin, July 1989.

Scope and Content 

Minute book of the Board of Management of the National Student, the official organ of the Students' Union (1947). Series of the National Student (1931–53). 

Letter of appointment to the Irish Times (1950). Series of the monthly staff magazine, Under the Clock (1950–52).

Material relating to the early years of the Irish Times including ledgers detailing daily advertising revenue (1863–1929) and circulation figures (1873–1948); cash book (1865–67); bank book (1865–67); and salary payments (1867–1921). Also includes a grant of a licence between Sir John Gray and Edmund William Dwyer Gray and Sir John Arnott, propietor of the Irish Times for the use of a machine for preparing paper for printing (1875).
