Biographical history

Born at Dangan, County Roscommon, an Irish language activist and a member of the I.R.B., he served as a Cumann na nGaedheal T.D. for Roscommon, 1923ñ33, and a member of the Seanad, 1938ñ43. A rate collector for Dublin Corporation, he later established his own business as an auctioneer and estate agent.

Scope and content

Irish Republican Brotherhood: material relating to the disposition of the residue of I.R.B. funds (1921ñ60); to the organisation’s attitude to the Anglo-Irish Treaty; and routine material concerning meetings such as roll books and reports (1918ñ22).

Cumann na nGaedheal: material relating to party organisation and finance.

Requests for assistance in applications for military and R.I.C. service pensions (1921ñ46).
