Edward Southwell,
Lord Clifford but styling himself Lord de Clifford, held estates
in county Down from 1773 to 1832. This collection relates to the
administration of the estate during a period when George Carson
acted as de Cliffords attorney as well as being his lessee.

are part of the archives of the firm of Franks & Oulton, solicitors,
21 Lower Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin, acquired in 1971. The parent
collection is being listed
on the basis of individual clients, usually landed families.

Affidavits,
subpoenas, counsels opinion and bills of costs relating to
the rental of lands held by the Southwell family, particularly Edward
Southwell, styling himself Lord de Clifford, in county Down. Includes
correspondence of George Carson, attorney and lessee of de Clifford.
