Archivists' Toolkit™ Version 1.0.

The University of California, San Diego, New York University, and the Five Colleges, Inc. are pleased to announce the release of the Archivists' Toolkit™ Version 1.0. It is available for download. The Archivists' Toolkit™ is being offered under an Educational Community License (ECL).

The AT is the first open source archival data management system to provide integrated support for accessioning, description, donor tracking, name and subject authority work, and location management for archival materials. The effort to build this application has benefited tremendously from the interested guidance of the archival community and was made possible through the generous funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Ariadne

Ariadne is a web magazine for information professionals in archives, libraries and museums in all sectors. Since its inception in January 1996 it has attempted to keep the busy practitioner abreast of current digital library initiatives as well as technological developments further afield. It concentrated originally on reporting to the information community at large on progress and developments within the UK Electronic Libraries Programme (eLib), and now also reports on newer JISC-funded programmes and services as well as developments in the field of Museums, Libraries and Archives within the UK and abroad. It is published by UKOLN every three months beginning in January.

The online journal of Saad Eskander is available on the professional issues section of the Society of Archivists website under ‘International Perspectives’ and on the British Library’s website.

E-Archivaria

E-Archivaria is now available at here and is also available here. Archivaria, the journal of the Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA), is devoted to the scholarly investigation of archives in Canada and internationally. It has been published biannually since 1975. The full collection of Archivaria issues, 1–61, is now accessible on the web in digital format as PDF files. The great majority of the collection is open and freely available to the archival community and public. The most recent eight issues will be retained in a Reserved Collection, for ACA members and Archivaria subscribers. As new issues are published, further issues will become freely accessible.

Resources for Leaving Certificate History: Documents-based Case Studies from the Early Modern Ireland and Later Modern Ireland fields of study

Developed by the National Library of Ireland in association with the National Council for Curriculum & Assessment. These six documents-based case studies are the outcome of a year-long National Library Studentship to develop resource materials to support teachers in the revised Leaving Certificate History Syllabus. The studentship was jointly funded by the NLI and the NCCA. The research and writing of the materials was carried out by Dr Brian Kirby supported by a steering committee comprising representatives of NLI, NCCA and higher education.
