Welcome
to the March/September 2008 edition of the Irish Society for
Archives newsletter. Following a brief hiatus in publication,
due to a vacancy in position of editor, I am pleased to
announce that this position has now been filled by myself,
Ellen Murphy, assistant archivist at Dublin City Archives. I
would firstly like to thank Kate Manning for her sterling work
as editor over the past number of years and her assistance to
me in handing over stewardship of the newsletter. As before,
the newsletter will focus on events organised by Irish Society
for Archives and issues relating to Irish archives. This
edition brings you news of various exhibitions, events,
websites and databases, which have been launched by archive
services around the country. Each newsletter will also profile
a particular archives service or special collections library,
and this series begins with a fascinating article from Rebecca
Hayes on the Freemasons Archive in Dublin. I would love to
hear from you with any ideas for articles for Spring 2009
newsletter, or feedback about this newsletter. You can contact
me by email.
