Art and Architecture of Ireland
Two members of staff in the School of Art History & Cultural Policy are editors on the substantial project of new scholarship, Art and Architecture of Ireland. E xamining Irish art from the Medieval period to today, Art and Architecture of Ireland will be published by the Royal Irish Academy and Yale University Press in 2014.
Dr Nicola Figgis is editor of Volume 2, Painters and Painting 1600-1900, while Dr Paula Murphy is editor of Volume 3, Sculptors and Sculpture 1600-2000. This significant research venture in Irish art history has attracted joint private and public funding, with the Naughton Fund as the main sponsors.

The Main Board Meeting of Art
and Architecture of Ireland met at Academy House on Wednesday
12 May 2010. At the opening, Mary Hanafin, Minister for Tourism,
Culture and Sport met members of the Board and the Editors and gave an
address. At the first session Professor Nicholas Canny, President of
the RIA, Mrs Carmel Naughton spoke and Professor James Slevin, Chair of
the AAI Executive Board and Professor Andrew Carpenter, General Editor,
reported on the progress of the project. In the second session the
editors, including Nicola Figgis and Paula Murphy, of UCD Art History
and Cultural Policy, gave brief reports and insights into their
individual volumes.
