LINKED UP YOUR BA AT UCD

LINKED UP do BA i UCD

Week 1

8-12 Sept

Teaching term starts so all UCD students are back on campus so it can feel mighty busy!

For you it will be a week of…

  • Negotiating the Arts Block. Spend some time exploring the building; it begins to make sense after a few times up and down the corridors and stairs!
  • Understanding where you are supposed to be and when and build good habits of attending lectures and tutorials from the start.  There is more information on your timetables here.
  • Registering properly for subjects and modules – registry can help with this.
  • Check out what is expected from you on your modules by reading up on your module descriptors here
  • Asking your Peer Mentor - no question will be too silly or basic to ask, so ask, that is what they are there for. If you were unable to meet up with your Peer Mentor during Orientation Week then go along to the student centre an dthere is a stand with Peer Mentors who will be able to assist you getting in touch with your Mentor. Look out for the Blue Flags! Otherwise you can contact the Student Engagement Officer Kathleen Kiely on kathleen.kiely@ucd.ie (or drop into her office in G002) and she will put you in contact with them. Also keep an eye on your UCD Connect emails as they will be trying to get in touch with you that way.
  • Making new friends. This is easy – you have to just turn to the person beside you in lectures halls and classrooms and say hello! Start a conversation; invite each other for a coffee or lunch! Remember everyone else will be in the same position as you, so go on BE BRAVE, say hello!
  • Joining our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter and stay LINKED UP with what’s going on
  • Head along to the Fresher’s Ball – organized every year by the Ents. Soc. it is the highlight of the first week of term and a huge date on your academic social calendar.

This is a great week to Talk & Ask questions!!
