Welcome

Welcome to the subject area of Banking & Finance's home page. The subject area is a relatively new addition to the School of Business, however, we have grown substantially over recent years and now boast the largest finance subject area in the country. The subject areas full time staff have obtained their doctorates from a variety of highly regarded business schools, including University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, City University, University of Technology-Sydney, University of Newcastle, University of Maryland, Queens University of Belfast, as well as two graduates of our own doctorate programme. In addition, with two overseas members of staff, and virtually all members of the subject area have either studied or worked abroad, the subject area is extremely international in outlook.
Members of faculty are widely published in journals such as: Applied Economics, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Journal of Empirical Finance and the Journal of Forecasting.

The subject area provide courses to 11 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contributes to the faculty's distance learning programmes in Spain, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. The subject area has a leading role in four undergraduate degrees in Banking & Finance, Economics & Finance, Insurance and Acutarial & Financial Studies, while at a postgraduate level we provide two specialist masters programmes as well as our PhD programme. The MBS in Finance is a broad based one-year programme while the new MSc in Quantitative Finance is a two-year programme.

At present we have details of members of staff and the degree programmes to which we contribute. Details of the working papers produced can be found under the relevant research centre, in addition to abstracts for some of the papers.
