Centre for Financial Markets
Centre for Financial Markets,
The Michael Smurfit School of Business,
University College Dublin,
The primary aim of the Centre for Financial Markets (CFM) is to produce research in Finance of the highest international standard by focusing attention on the operations of the financial services industry and their principal institutions.
The Centre embraces a range of activities, from publishing in the highest-ranking finance journals to developing and organising international events, such as research conferences and visiting research seminars. The Centre supports and promotes a research ethos that develops preliminary research through a working paper series and an internal research seminar series. Also, it develops collaborative research through visits by internationally renowned researchers. Furthermore it aims to help develop and train finance graduates of the highest international standards at Ph.D and Masters level through completing projects that fit the research agenda of its academic members. Also as part of the training we provide appropriate support structures such as Ph.D symposiums to ensure the highest quality research possible.
The research agenda of the Centre is relevant to financial institutions and fosters strong links between faculty and major corporations. As part our graduate training we encourage the engagement of applied research projects through the Centre that investigate technical and strategic issues relevant to the financial services industry and their institutions. The Centre also completes proprietary projects for funding institutions on issues that are relevant to them and where strong academic inputs are beneficial.
