The Canadian Embassy in Ireland organised a visit from Shawna Pandya (Canadian astronaut) and(opens in a new window)Norah Patten(first Irish astronaut) we had the honor of welcoming them to UCD on21stNov.This isin preparation for their sub-orbital flight (virgin galactic delta, IIAS-02), the first all-female research spaceflight. UCD Master’s degree programme in Applied Environmental Science is the first on the island of Ireland to be approved as an Accredited Degree Programme of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
The taught Master's programme is offered by the School of Biology and Environments Science and has been running for 44 years preparing students to become the next generation of professionals in the field of environmental sciences.
We are delighted to welcome University College Dublin’s MSc in Applied Environmental Science as the first degree on the island of Ireland to receive CIEEM accreditation. This recognition reflects the programme’s strong commitment to equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills essential for professional ecological and environmental practice.
Assessors highlighted the course’s interdisciplinary collaboration, high-quality facilities, and strong student support as key strengths. The placement module, in particular, was noted as a major asset in enhancing students’ professional skills and employability. The programme was described as ‘well-developed and innovative,’ with graduates clearly respected by employers across the sector.
