UCD's mini-Gaeltacht, first established in 2000, offers students a unique experience. Students from various subject areas have the opportunity to live and work together as Gaeilge, while further developing their individual talents through a range of social and cultural activities. Gaeltacht UCD offers scholarships to 24 students who are fluent Irish speakers and who have the desire and the ability to initiate projects which promote the use of the language.

2016 European Language Label

Bord na Gaeilge UCD was awarded the European Language Label 2016 for its Irish Language Student Residence Scheme. The label recognises outstanding achievement in the teaching or learning of languages. The European Language Label is coordinated by the European Commission and in Ireland is managed by Léargas
