UCD Services finds itself in a changed environment with significantly reduced staffing levels, as a result the existing model cannot be sustained and many of the services will now be delivered in a different manner. Technology will be increasingly deployed to deliver our services in conjunction with specialist service providers.
Our new Campus Services reflects the change from a distributed model of local Services Desks to a consolidated and coordinated service for the whole campus.

Services Desks
The Services Desks have been consolidated to a new Campus Services Centre located at the lower ground-level, lake-end of the UCD Agriculture and Food Science Building. map
Information Provision
Information queries will be addressed by self-help information kiosks located close to where the services desks were located. The information kiosks will also have a direct phone link to Campus Services.

Teaching support for the audiovisual equipment in the shared teaching spaces will be centrally managed. The main teaching spaces have been fitted with AV management software, which enables remote monitoring of the system health and will allow for preventative maintenance. Theatres have been fitted with a telephone to call for assistance should it be required. During term time these requests will be dealt with by specialist AV Technicians based in the main teaching buildings. Lapel microphones have been replaced with a passive array of microphones at the front of the theatres allowing the lecturer to move about the teaching space.

Previously the UCD mail room sorted to a building level, with local sorting taking place at Service Desks. All mail will now be centrally sorted to a unit level. This has required a larger sorting area and the mail room has relocated to Newstead.
Unit specific mail drop boxes have been introduced in buildings for collection of mail by units and other boxes for the drop off of outgoing mail pouches.

The Services Desks provided a static presence in the buildings, this will now be replaced by a mobile (presence with increased mobile patrols. The use of external and internal CCTV and intruder alarms, monitored centrally 24 hours per day by Campus Services, has also been increased.
