Teaching Technology Support

Together with UCD IT Services, Campus Services provides support to users of Teaching Technology in approximately 120 Shared Teaching Spaces on the Belfield Campus.

Spread over a dozen academic buildings and with a seating capacity in excess of 10,000, these rooms and theatres represent a significant portion of the University’s teaching resources. These spaces are diverse, ranging from 300+ seat theatres in the Newman Building and Health Sciences and Science to smaller but equally important classrooms in the Engineering, Agriculture and other buildings.

Those of you familiar with the teaching spaces in UCD will be aware of the diversity of configurations of teaching technology in use. This lack of uniformity in terms of the user interface is recognised as a significant problem and will be addressed in the forthcoming programme of upgrades. However this project, which is highly dependent on the availability of funding, will take several years to complete.

However a document has been prepared to provide users with some guidance on the use the Teaching Technology in the these spaces. It is based on the configuration of the technology proposed for the programme of upgrades but the guidelines can be applied to many of the existing equipment configurations.

As a technology user how do I get help during a class?

While every effort is made to ensure that the technology is fully functional, there will be occasions when you need urgent “on the spot" assistance.

During term, a team of teaching technology responders will deployed across the campus. You may call for assistance by using the nearby dedicated helpline which rings automatically to the Teaching Technology Help Desk. This is staffed 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday in term. A responder will be sent to your location as quickly as possible to help resolve the problem. If, on the other hand, your report or comment is less urgent please contact the help desk at extn 7300 or email avsupport@ucd.ie
