UCD School of Business 100 Years

An Scoil Ghnó UCD

WELCOME FROM THE DEAN

This year we are celebrating our Centennial Year of providing business education in Ireland. This tenure positions us as one of the longest-established business programmes in the world. Since the doors to our Commerce faculty opened in 1908, we have educated many of Ireland’s business leaders, and we continue to nurture the next generation.

We are very proud of the trajectory of our development. Over the years, thanks to the dedication and skill of our faculty and staff, we have developed into Ireland’s leading business school. That position is gratifying, but it is no longer sufficient. Our long-term ambition is to feature in the ranks of the very top business schools in the world.

As a key contributor to Ireland’s economic development, we must prepare our students for life in a highly global future. Beyond that, we must now provide thought leadership that aids the success of organisations in Ireland and informs thinking internationally. If the future promises to reward knowledge-based work, we are in the knowledge business. Just as teaching underpins knowledge transmission, scholarship and research form the backbone of knowledge generation.

At the UCD Business Schools we are proud to be honouring a century of business education. We look forward to celebrating the centenary year and to marching confidently into the next century of education.

With very best wishes

Prof Tom Begley, Dean, UCD School of Business
