Daedalus Refurbishment
The development of learning environments with attractive student facilities, responsive student support services, and opportunities for intellectual, personal and social development is a key part of the Campus Development Plan. UCD is committed to delivering high quality infrastructure on campus for teaching, learning, and research to support both individual and group study.
There is a shift in the teaching paradigm towards small-group teaching and problem based learning. The Daedalus Building has undergone changes to provide world-class technology enabled facilities that reflect these new teaching practices.
The refurbished facilities include a flexible learning space, a state-of-the-art computer teaching laboratory, and technology enhanced collaboration space.
The interface between users is seen as a fundamental facet of the new space, and it is envisaged that these improvements will promote both organised and impromptu interaction. The establishment of discussion-friendly study spaces, with comfortable seating allows for knowledge spill-over and will enforce synergies between students.
