Charles Institute Building Update
University College Dublin and the City of Dublin Skin and Cancer Hospital Charity have provided funding to establish the new Charles Institute Building which will be located between the Conway Institute and the Health Sciences Centre. The Charles Institute will be a facility for dermatology research and training that will become a National and European centre of excellence.
UCD has also made a submission to PRTLI5 for additional funding to construct phase two of this building to host System Biology, which will combine expertise in systems engineering mathematical and computer approaches with state of the art technology platforms.
Main construction works commenced in November 2009 and the new building is projected to be complete by late 2010.
An interim layout has been established for the Health Sciences café facilities to enable subsequent interface works between the Health Sciences and the new building.
