Landmark development for Irish Science
The UCD Science Centre development will deliver cutting edge facilities designed to capture the imagination of the inquisitive school student, to inspire future generations of scientists and entrepreneurs, and to foster collaboration where academia and industry work side-by-side.
Accommodation for the earth sciences, simulation and computation research programmes will be provided in the integrated infrastructure for science teaching and learning, research, innovation and outreach activities. A BREEAM 'Excellent' rating for the project design has been confirmed and the project delivery is on target to achieve this rating.
The primary structural frame for the new Science East Building including floor slabs has been erected and refurbishment works in the Science Hub building are progressing well. By late 2013 scientists will move seamlessly between the UCD Science Centre teaching, research and innovation spaces.
Construction of the new Systems Biology facilities adjacent to the UCD Charles Institute and the UCD Conway Institute has advanced to roof level.
