New Road Layout at Belfield

Completion of the enabling works for the new Sutherland School of Law will see the new road layout through the south of Belfield Campus become operational over the coming days.

The road will incorporate new pedestrian junctions at the entrance to the Merville Residences and Belfield House, and will also include relocated traffic barriers to preserve the existing traffic cells. These barriers will operate to the same schedule as previous barriers.

The following changes can be expected on entering the campus:

Changes from the N11 Entrance

Vehicles entering the campus from the N11 entrance will continue as normal until the Engineering and Materials Science Centre. Turning left at the traffic lights before St. Stephens, the new road continues past the Merville student village and arrives at a new set of traffic lights adjacent the Centra shop. At the traffic lights, vehicles can turn left towards the Owenstown entrance or continue straight to join the main ring road around the campus to the university Arts, Humanities, Science, and Sports precincts. The remaining section of road between St. Stephens and the bus terminus adjacent the Quinn School of Business is now a cul de sac and shall be used for busses, vehicular access to St. Stephens, and access to the car park adjacent to the main campus bus terminus.

Changes from the Owenstown Entrance

Vehicles entering the campus from the Owenstown entrance will continue as normal until the new traffic lights adjacent to the Merville student village. Vehicles turning left will pass the recently added car parking until joining the existing campus ring road at the rear of the Quinn School of Business. Vehicles turning right at the Merville student village will continue past Belfield House and join the existing road adjacent the Engineering and Materials Science Centre.

Changes from the Clonskeagh Entrance

Vehicles entering the campus from the Clonskeagh entrance will continue as normal until approaching the rear of the Student Club. Vehicles can turn right to car park 5 and the Arts Annexe, Geary Institute and Humanities Institute of Ireland. Vehicles continuing straight from the Student Club can continue straight around the new road until the traffic new lights. Alternatively, vehicles can turn right after the new traffic barriers to additional car parking and the Roebuck precinct.  At the traffic lights, vehicles can continue straight via Belfield House and the Engineering and Materials Science Centre to the N11 entrance and Veterinary Science Centre. Vehicles turning right at the traffic lights can continue to exit the campus via the Owenstown entrance.
