Refurbishment Works to Merville Student Village
Integral to UCD’s student experience is the establishment of a vibrant campus precinct, thriving on and supported by academic, social and cultural activities, strongly integrated with the University’s’ neighbours and the wider community. As a key element to this strategy, each year UCD welcomes almost 3,000 students to its campus accommodation.
Continuous investment in campus residences are necessary to ensure that the facilities serve the student within the context of a modern academic residence.
Emphasising UCD’s proactive role to providing quality accommodation on campus, a refurbishment scheme was established in 2008. The University has invested in a widespread refurbishment programme and the latest student residences redevelopment includes apartment blocks in the UCD Merville Student Village. To date over 350 beds (60%) have been redeveloped.
Built over 15 years ago and located on the main Belfield Campus, Merville Residences include a series of three storey buildings which enclose landscaped areas with nearby parking. Careful remedial works have included the installation of new furnishings and a range of internal improvement works.
