Refurbishment Works to UCD Merville Residences
Student residential facilities constitute an important form of accommodation for most students in third level institutions as they bring together students from diverse cultures, races, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Each year UCD welcomes over 2,500 students and staff to its apartments and shared-student accommodation. The welfare and quality of experience for students are a key priority of the University. This allows students to focus on gaining a degree and enjoying their time in their new surroundings.
The University recognises that continuous investment in campus residences is necessary to ensure that the facilities serve the student within the context of a modern academic residence. It is understood that student accommodation should be high spec to cater for the needs of its distinctly 21st century student population.
The University has invested in a widespread refurbishment scheme and the latest student residences to be refurbished as part of the programme are 4 apartment blocks in the UCD Merville Student Village.
Built over 15 years ago and located on the main UCD campus close to the Owenstown Park entrance, Merville residences include a series of three storey apartments which are formed into a number of buildings enclosing grassed areas with nearby parking. Careful remedial works have included the installation of new furnishings, and internal improvement works
