Science Centre Construction Update
The development of research and training facilities in the Science Centre will enable UCD to deliver significant improvements in the standard of graduates in science and engineering disciplines. Since 2008, the University has achieved the phased delivery of 3,750sq.m of refurbished research laboratory and write-up accommodation in the Science Centre South, West and North Buildings, funded by PRTLI, the HEA Research Facilities Enhancement Scheme and university monies.

Science South A1
UCD is currently advancing the next stage of the Science Centre South Building funded from both PRTLI Cycle 4 and University resources. The development of 6,300sq.m for the fields of biopharm, food & health and bio-nano sciences will include the refurbishment of existing building and the construction of a new four storey state-of-the-art extension.
Enabling works including the erection of hoarding, decommissioning of lab areas, demolitions and facade removal were complete by late September 2009. The building has been stripped back to shell and core. The main contractor for the final phase will commence shortly with an overall completion projected for late 2010.
Science South A2
Enabling works were recently completed for the new Charles Institute. The main contractor has been appointed for the new building which is projected to be complete by late 2010.
