Enabling Works Commence for New Student Centre
Understanding that a college education is more than just the classroom experience, the University seeks to create a living, dynamic and sustainable community centred on the Belfield Campus. Extra curricular activities in sport, clubs and society activities contribute to developing the student experience which in turn promotes student involvement and a sense of belonging.
Reflecting the increased awareness of the importance of healthy living and student engagement, the University has commenced the development of new campus student facilities, sited between the existing UCD Student Centre and UCD Sports Centre.
Hoarding has been erected for the construction of the new state-of-the-art building which will include facilities such as a new debating chamber, a drama theatre, multi media and seminar rooms, a dance studio, a media centre, Student Union and student health facilities, exhibition and café space, and a 50 m swimming pool and fitness gymnasium with associated changing rooms. This initiative will cater more closely to contemporary lifestyles, expectations, and recreation needs.
