Works commence to the UCD Oakmount Crèche
Building works are now complete to the extended UCD Oakmount Crèche which sees the current facility increase in capacity from 60 to 100 children.
This development has generated additional facilities within which each child is supported in developing their potential at their own pace while fostering a process of exploration within an educational, play-based atmosphere.
Funding for the project was partially provided through the National Development Plan 2007-2013 under the National Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2010.
Physical learning environments contribute to child development and can create a positive influence by promoting child-directed and child-initiated play.
Designed by ABA Architects, the extended high-quality child care facility creates an environment that will assist and support, rather than impede children's development. The crèche ambiance, layout, acoustics, lighting, equipment and furnishings were designed to have a valuable and beneficial impact on children's learning and behaviour.
