Transformational Projects

UCD is committed to developing the campus physical infrastructure to support its core business of teaching, learning and research, ultimately achieving the objective of becoming a leading research-intensive university.

Equally importantly, UCD strives to create a living, dynamic and sustainable community centred on the Belfield Campus. This will be fostered trough providing additional residential accommodation and encouraging diverse activities that engage the student, staff and wider community on a 24/7, year round basis.

These aims will be achieved through several key transformational projects. The Gateway project will transform the N11 entrance with improved access and iconic buildings, drawing the wider community onto the Belfield Campus with a range of facilities and a landscaped, pedestrian friendly environment.

The UCD Science District development will, among other objectives, enable UCD to play its full part in supporting the government’s Strategy for Science, technology and Innovation 2006-2013.

Similarly the Humanities Complex development, which is at the early project planning stage, will facilitate expansion in the humanities and social science fields.

The Student Centre Precinct will provide for a much needed extension to the very successful Student Centre, providing additional student support facilities. The development will also include additional sporting and leisure facilities including a swimming pool.
