David joined UCD as Director of the Career Development Centre in August 2009. Responsible for the Centre's strategic and operational development, the work at the centre is focussed on three key themes - student engagement, student employability and effective transitions to work and graduate study within a framework of personal and career development planning.

Before joining UCD, David worked at Queen's University, Belfast where he held the position of Deputy Head of Careers, Employability and Skills. David was heavily involved in introducing both credit and non-credit bearing courses on Career Management and Employability Skills into the curriculum and project managed initiatives such as the Degree Plus Award to provide credit for students' development from extra-curricular experience. David had previously been a Senior Careers Adviser and Careers Adviser at Queen's, working with students across a range of disciplines and developing experiential learning opportunities such as the Corporate Study Visit to Law firms in City of London.

Prior to Queen's, David worked as a Careers Adviser for the Northern Ireland Careers Service. David's initial graduate career was with the Northern Ireland Civil Service in a range of finance related positions.

David holds a BSc (Hons) in Communication (Psychology and Linguistics), a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance (with Commendation), an MSc Guidance and Counselling and a PhD in Psychology (Students and their careers: a study of career decision-making, self-efficacy and vocationalism in undergraduate students). More recently, David completed a Certificate in Executive Coaching and is a nominated member of staff at UCD offering Coaching services for UCD staff.

David is a member of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Sorcha joined the UCD Career Development Centre as a Career Development Adviser in September 2010. Sorcha's work with students ranges from one to one guidance to the development, delivery and assessment of credit-bearing career and personal development modules and the facilitation of workshops on a variety of careers related topics, including interview techniques, career planning and networking.

Prior to taking on her current role Sorcha was a management consultant and has worked for several global consultancy firms including Accenture (in Human Performance consulting) and Hay Group (in Leadership and Talent consulting). As a consultant Sorcha worked primarily in the area of assessment and development, across all organisational levels, from the new graduate intake to senior executives. She ran assessment centres, conducted competency-based interviews, delivered personal development programmes and provided individual coaching. She brings this expertise to bear in her work with students.

Sorcha holds a BA in Applied Psychology and an MSc. in Occupational Psychology. Sorcha is a member of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.

Ena moved to the Career Development Centre at Belfield in 2009, having previously worked as a Careers Adviser in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School from 1998 to 2005. Within her role as Careers Adviser she delivers careers education seminars and workshops, meets with students individually and liaises with employers. She has taught credit bearing modules within the School of Psychology and oversees the annual UCD Career Development Centre ‘Finance / City Careers’ study trip to London for students of the UCD Quinn School of Business.

Outside of UCD, Ena has worked with organisations including the IMI and the Ryan Academy and has worked with Leaving Certificate and Post Leaving Certificate students (Rathmines College) and with adults returning to education (Dun Laoighaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology.)

Ena has an MSc in Organisational Psychology and a BA in Psychology. She is a member of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.

Carol joined UCD as a Career Development Adviser in November 2011. With over ten years experience in Human Resources Carol has worked for some of Ireland's top companies within FMCG, Finance and Services sectors - including Kerry Group, NCB Stockbrokers and Paramount HR. In this regard, Carol has significant experience in multi-disciplinary recruitment and placement of graduates and professionals across enterprise.

Carol works with students on a range of personal and career development issues with a view to empowering students to take ownership for career development and create strategies to maximise their employability/academic potential.

Carol holds a H.Dip in Adult Guidance and Counselling, and a BA in Human Resources and Industrial Relations. Carol is a member of Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services, the Association of Higher Education Careers Services and the Institute of Guidance Counsellors.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellows

Mark took up the post of Career Development Adviser for Post-Doctoral Research Staff at the UCD Career Development Centre in late 2010. Prior to that he was manager of the Career Development Centre at the University of Otago in New Zealand (2005-2010), and previously a Careers Adviser at UCD (1994-2005).

His responsibilities primarily focus on the development of programmes and services re career related education, information and guidance for staff employed as Postdoctoral Fellows throughout UCD.

He has been actively involved in the profession at national and international level, having been Chair of The University Careers Advisers' Association of New Zealand and Secretary of the Association of Graduate Career Services in Ireland (now the Association of Higher Education Careers Services), as well as sitting on various committees. He is also a member of the Association of Graduate Career Advisory Services and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (US).

Mark is passionate about the possibilities for people to engage with their careers in a proactive fashion to better optimise their career fulfilment.

Sarah joined UCD as a Career Development Adviser in August 2012, having previously worked in a variety of guidance and training roles in the UK and internationally. Sarah has worked with clients of all ages including students and those seeking employment, and has a passion for supporting individuals to reach their potential.

Sarah supports students at UCD to be active in their career planning and to engage in opportunities that will enhance their employability. Sarah provides individual guidance and works with students in group settings, facilitating workshops and delivering career education seminars. She is involved with the development, delivery and assessment of credit-bearing career development modules within the College of Science, specifically Springboard programmes and Year One Computer Science.

Sarah has a BA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Birmingham, a Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (incorporating the QCGD) from the University of Strathclyde, and an MSc in Career Guidance from the University of the West of Scotland. She is a member of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services, the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services, and the Institute of Career Guidance.

Dee joined UCD as a Career Development Adviser in August 2012. Her responsibilities primarily focus on the development and implementation of the Springboard programmes in the College of Science: teaching and assessing credit bearing modules, delivering career education seminars, meeting with students for individual guidance and liasing with employers. Dee is also the designated Career Development Adviser for students in the College of Engineering and Architecture, developing and delivering career development programmes for students.
 
She holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology with Psychoanalysis (PSI Accred.), an MBS in Management & Organisational Consultancy and is certified in NLP and CBT. She is qualifed in psychometric testing and behavioural assessment and also holds a H.Dip in Public Relations & Communicatons. She is a member of the Association of Higher Education Career Services and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.

Dee has previously worked in a number of consultancy and guidance roles, ranging from second level institutions to organisational consultancy firms; working in human performance, graduate development, assessment and development at senior level and change management programmes.

Brian has been the MBA Careers Manager in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School since December 2009.

Having worked in both the investment banking and insurance sectors in the USA and UK early in his career, Brian was then involved in setting up a successful consulting firm specialising in human capital and technology projects in the public sector in Ireland and internationally.

Brian was also Head of Research for a number of years at one of Irelands leading Executive Search companies. There he gained an in-depth insight into the recruitment process and exactly what makes a candidate truly stand out.

With qualifications in information systems, psychology and executive coaching, Brian focuses on ensuring that each participant on the programme gains a deep self awareness of how their unique skills and talents can be best applied in the market place.

Brian is a member of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.

Cathy joined the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Career Development Centre in August 2010. Formerly, Cathy was an Associate Director with one of Ireland's largest recruitment companies. She led the company's recruitment teams providing solutions to the Insurance, Banking/ Financial, Legal and HR sectors. In this role Cathy developed relationships with many of the key employers in those sectors and gained a deep knowledge of the employer requirements in each industry and company.

Cathy is primarily responsible for career guidance to the UCD Michael Smurfit Masters Business Graduate students. She uses her background in recruitment and her corporate network to provide up to date, comprehensive feedback to students on the skills, competences and qualifications required in today's competitive business environment.

Cathy's UCD undergraduate degree was a BA (History, Irish and politics) subsequently followed with a BA Law in DIT Aungier Street. She has recently commenced a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Education, Information and Guidance in Higher Education at the University of Warwick.

Cathy is a member of the Association of Higher Education Careers Services and the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services.
