PhD Programmes
Simulation Science - Educating the New Scientist
A world class PhD programme that takes in 21 graduates from diverse undergraduate disciplines (Mathematics, Statistics, Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics) and provide them with an in-depth training in the transdisciplinary area of Simulation Science and a research experience that positions students at the leading edge of real-world domain specific research.
PhD Programme in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology
The aim of this PhD programme is to give students a strong interdisciplinary training with both numerate (e.g. mathematics, statistics) and biological (e.g. experimental laboratory work) research experience and joint supervision from different disciplines.
PhD Programme in Complex Systems and Computational Social Science
The interdisciplinary PhD programme combines the application of computer simulation and other computer-based methods to the analysis of social systems and processes at all levels of complexity.
PhD programme in Mathematics, Coding, Cryptography and Information Security
The PhD programme provides students with training in coding theory and cryptography, and all related areas of mathematics including discrete mathematics, algebra, algebraic geometry and number theory.
Innovation Policy Simulation for the Smart Economy
This programme will undertake cutting-edge research on the needs of the Irish economy to breed an innovation ecosystem with optimally structured university-industry-government networks. We will use computational modelling, informed by large new datasets coming from empirical research within the proposed project, to investigate the actors, designs, processes and policies of Irish innovation networks.
PhD Programme in Computational Infection Biology
This programme is aimed at students who are interested in integrating computational methods with biological research to investigate the association of pathogens with both animal and human hosts. Students may enter with a background in biological science or in computational or mathematical science.
