Awardee: Dr. Catherine Mooney, Post Doctoral Researcher, UCD CASL

Catherine completed her PhD in Computer Science in 2008. Her post-doctoral research is funded by SFI and is in the area of computational screening to discover compounds that mimic peptides involved in protein interactions.

Her paper presents arguably the best ab initio predictor of protein subcellular localisation in the world. The online version of the predictor has already served nearly 20,000 queries from all over the world."
