EU FP7 Research Infrastructure - QNano Kick-off Meeting

The EU FP7 Research Infrastructure for NanoSafety (QNano - www.qnano-ri.eu), which is coordinated by CBNI UCD and has 27 partners from across the EU, started on 1st February 2011. The kick-off meeting was held in UCD on 13th and 14th April 2011, and was attended by over 50 people representing the 27 EU partners. 

This Research Infrastructure comprises of 3 main strands which are the Joint Research Activities, Networking Activities and the Transnational Access element.

The Transnational Access element of QNano is of particular interest to researchers working in the field of NanoSafety and NanoTechnology as it promotes the use of equipment and facilities across 15 institutes across Europe through open calls in the following areas:

  • Particle Synthesis
  • Particle Labelling
  • Particle Characterisation in and ex situ
  • In vitro toxicity studies

The first call for access will be launched in late 2011 and will be announced on the CBNI website and the QNano website www.qnano-ri.eu.
